- To play AP MF effectively you have to become an E bot. All you do is E and run away. You build stuff like spellthief items, liandry, luden's echo, void staff. You can keep going with more AP items, but I think the best AP MF builds include Black Cleaver or a Last Whisper item because her ult scales off AP but is still physical.

Seriously, wtf. Ive had enough of Anivia having mana issues with her ult, and compared to the above champions, its sad to see that her ult is being overpowered by other 'Normal Abilities'
You can argue that anivia ulti has low CD, but she has a wall that lasts longer, and does no damage and is a huge risk factor. So in essence she still has only 3 damage spells, all of which use alot of mana. If you eventually compare all 3 spells together, you will find that Varus overpowers both, with Anivia coming in last.
*Every one of Anivias spells/passiv has a weakness or risk element attatched to it, thats more than can be said for other champs
-The slow on Varus Hail of Arrows make Anivias ult seem like a joke, also varus ult is like amumu ult, compare that to the wall, and we have a huge disadvantage here.
-Anivia ulti has initial mana cost of 75, versus the E of Varrus(80) and Miss Fortune(100)
-Anivia ulti loses so much mana per sec, even if its on for 3 secs. Thats a total of 480dmg to whoever stands in her ult, with a total mana cost of 255(upkeep + initial)
-The damage from the E spells of Varrus and Miss Fortune are 225(+0.6 AD) & 310(+0.8 AP)
-Anivia ult can be Crowd Controlled by other champs
-Basically the mana cost v Damage ratios are ridiculous when compared to anivia, AND the slows are stronger on Varus W, with the ability to slow healing effects too. The eventual CD on Varus E is 10 Seconds, 4 more than anivia ulti!
Yes i just compared AD champs to Anivia, but who cares, anivia is having mana issues, there is no doubt about it. We are being forced to sacrifice damage for Chalice and we are forced to include Archangel Staff in our build. Her ulti is doing too little when compared to other stuff in the game, 20% slow v 50% varus slow(seriously wtf!!!). Even nunu will be ashamed at the 4 sec AOE slow on Varus.
Secondly, Varus is like an amumu with AD functionality. His E spell outclasses MF's, and his ult, no matter which way you look at it has the AOE CC. That on an AD carry is unfair to the other AD Carries. Ashe can stun only one champ, vayne can knock only 1 champ, this dude can CC an entire team!!!
Btw, the E on Varus lasts 2 more seconds than Miss Fortunes, has stronger slow + additional effect, costs less mana, and deals damage based on AD, compared to Miss Fortunes AP ratio. Yes MF E does less damage, but after taking AP/AD ratios on the spells into account, Miss Forune loses out in the long run.
Riot please stop releasing rubbish! Ahri came out and made quite a few AP champs obsolete, this dude is obviously in a class of his own when compared to other AD Caries. And dare not say he is squishy, because its a trait all AD Carries have in common! I dont have an issue with Varus normal abilities, but one has to wonder what Riot were thinking when they decided to create Varus Ulti. This dude is like the Morgana of AP class champs.
Some champs in the league need to be seriously looked at. The Ratios on newer champ abilities compared to the older champs is really unfair.

Specifically for AP MF, since she does a fair mix of magic and physical damage it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a little of both: sorc boots and mpen reds, and if they have lots of armor buy a LW or black cleaver to synergize with your ult.
